broadcast service. Used as the means for doing so is a broadcast reception device that, together with a broadcast
station device, constitutes a
broadcast system, wherein: a broadcast wave data block transmitted using a broadcast wave and an online data block transmitted using a communication network, for both of which transmission from the broadcast
station device has started at the same timing, and which each correspond to the same partial video content, are received; a long standby time is set which is longer than the longest time that is expected as the
delay time from the start of transmission of the broadcast wave data block to the start of reception of the broadcast wave data block and which is longer than the longest time that is expected as the
delay time from the start of transmission of the online data block to the start of reception of the online data block; and decoding of both data blocks for which reception has started is started at the timing when the standby time is elapsed from the start of the transmission of the broadcast wave data block and the online data block.
