[0026] Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to novel aluminate-based green phosphors (referred to herein as green phosphors). The novel aluminate-based green phosphors of embodiments of the present invention are particularly useful in various display applications. Such display applications include, but are not limited to, backlighting of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Plasma Display Panel (PDP), and Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) displays. In addition, it is suitable for any individual green LED use, for example, in decorative lights, sign system lights, signal lights and indicators, and can likewise be used in white light lighting systems.
