Embodiment 14
[0064] Example 14 Preparation of Coating Compositions Preparation of solvent-based alkyd pigment-free coating compositions. The following components were added to a water-cooled grinding kettle and mixed for 15 minutes at high shear rate (3000 rpm) using a Cowles-type mixing blade. During this process, the temperature of the milling was maintained at approximately below 30°C.

[0076] Evaluation of the coating composition of embodiment 15
[0077] The coating was pulled down over a Leneta 5C opaque card using a 7 mil Dow rod, allowed to dry completely, and then the reflectance was measured with a Byk-Gardner color guide 45° / 0° reflectometer. Record the Y reflectance (Y). The thickness of the card and the card with the applied film was measured in mils using an electronic Mitutoyo scale comparator. The difference between these measurements is the thickness (T) of the film. The scattering of the paint comprising core-shell polymer particles was calculated per mil film thickness using the following formula:
[0078] S=(Y / (100-Y)) / T. Thermal aging disintegration was calculated based on scattering before and after thermal aging. In Table 15.1, the organic medium composition is 97% by weight OMS / 3% by weight toluene. In Table 15.2, the organic medium composition is 100% by weight OMS.
