Embodiment 1

[0183] To 200 parts of latex 1, add the following three components that have been mixed together in advance: 8 parts of partially saponified PVA ("Gohsenol GM 14S (trade name)" with an average degree of polymerization of 1400 and a degree of saponification of 88 mol %, synthesized in Japan Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd.), 45 parts of calcium carbonate as a filler, and 2.5 parts of hydroxyethylcellulose. The prepared mixture was fully stirred, and 27 parts of water was additionally added to adjust the viscosity of the mixture to 50000-60000. Thus, an adhesive composition for wood parts / wooden materials is obtained.

Embodiment 2~4

[0185] In the same manner as in Example 1, latexes 2 to 4 were used to obtain adhesive compositions for wood parts / wooden materials. The amount of water to be added later is adjusted according to the viscosity (50000 to 60000 mPa·s (Brookfield viscometer, 10 rpm, 23°C)) of the adhesive composition for wood parts / wooden materials to be obtained.

Embodiment 5

[0187] To 110 parts of water was added the following four ingredients which had been mixed together beforehand: 100 parts of latex powder 1 from latex 1, 8 parts of partially saponified PVA with an average degree of polymerization of 1400 and an average degree of saponification of 88 mole % (" Gohsenol GM 14S (trade name)", manufactured by Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.), 45 parts of calcium carbonate as a filler, and 2.5 parts of hydroxyethylcellulose. The four ingredients were added such that no powder lumps formed. The resulting mixture is thoroughly mixed to obtain an adhesive composition for wood parts / wooden materials. The amount of water to be added later is adjusted according to the viscosity (50,000 to 60,000 mPa·s (Brookfield viscometer, 10 rpm, 23° C.)) of the adhesive composition for wood parts / wooden materials to be obtained.

Abstract

The invention provides an aqueous synthetic resin emulsion which can form a film excellent in water resistance, hot water resistance, boiling resistance, toughness and durability; a re-emulsifiable emulsion powder; an aqueous synthetic resin emulsion prepared by re-emulsifying the powder; and an adhesive composition. An aqueous synthetic resin emulsion which contains a synthetic resin dispersed therein in a state stabilized with a polyvinyl alcohol resin (a) having 1,2-diol units in side chains, where the synthetic resin comprises at least 30wt% (based on the whole of the monomer units) of units derived from one or more hydrophobic monomers exhibiting solubilities of 0.1% or below in water at 20 DEG C, the hydrophobic monomers containing a styrenic monomer; a re-emulsifiable emulsion powder; and an aqueous synthetic resin emulsion prepared by re-emulsifying the power.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to aqueous synthetic resin latex and re-emulsifiable latex powder. More specifically, the present invention relates to aqueous synthetic resin emulsions and re-emulsifiable emulsion powders which form films having excellent water resistance, warm water resistance, boiling resistance, and long-term durability. They can be used for a variety of purposes including, inter alia, adhesives for wood parts or wooden materials or for paper and the like, inorganic finishing materials, coating materials, and admixtures for hydraulic materials such as cement and gypsum. Background technique [0002] In order to impart mechanical stability and freeze stability to aqueous latexes, polyvinyl alcohol (often abbreviated hereinafter as PVA) is conventionally used as protective colloid. PVA is used to increase the mechanical and freeze stability of the latex. However, especially when primarily polymerizing hydrophobic monomers, it often ha...
