Problems solved by technology

[0004] A problem with some aircraft systems to be supplied with ambient air is that these systems require a greater air flow during ground operations of the aircraft than during cruise of the aircraft
On the other hand, blowers equipped in ram air ducts with small ram air duct inlet cross-sections optimized for cruising must be overdimensioned to provide the required high supply pressure, which leads to the disadvantage that the Blowers have a large volume, high weight and high energy consumption, and cause a relatively large amount of noise during operation

[0030] Figure 1 to Figure 5 The air duct 10 shown includes an air inlet 12 and a flow duct portion 16 which extends downstream of the air inlet 12 to an air outlet 14 . The air inlet 12 is integrated into the skin of the aircraft equipped with the air duct 10 and is thus surrounded by a corresponding part 18 of the outer skin of the aircraft. The air duct 10 serves to supply ambient air to a heat exchanger 20 arranged in the flow duct portion 16 .

[0031] During cruise of an aircraft equipped with air duct 10 , ambient air flowing around the outer skin of the aircraft flows through air inlet 12 into flow duct portion 16 and through heat exchanger 20 . On the other hand, during ground operation of the aircraft, the blower 22 ensures that sufficient ambient air is supplied to the heat exchanger 20 through the air inlet 12 and the flow duct section 16 . exist Figure 1 to Figure 5 In the illustrated embodiment of the air duct 10 , the blower 22 is arranged downstream of the ...

Abstract

The invention relates to an air duct (10) for supplying ambient air in an aircraft, comprising an air inlet (12), a duct channel section (16) extending downstream of the air inlet (12) and an air conveying device (22) which is adapted to convey ambient air through the air inlet (12) and the duct channel section (16). A flow control flap (24) closes the air inlet (12) in a first position, releases a first flow cross-section of the air inlet (12) in a second position and releases a second flow cross-section of the air inlet (12), which is larger than the first flow cross-section, in a third position.; The flow control flap (24) is designed and arranged in such a manner that a first surface section (28) of the flow control flap (24) is oriented substantially parallel to an aircraft shell section (18) surrounding the air inlet (12) in the area of the air inlet (12) in the second position of the flow control flap (24) and that the first surface section (28) of the flow control flap (24) is oriented at an angle with respect to the aircraft shell section (18) surrounding the air inlet (12) in an area of the air inlet (12) in the third position of the flow control flap (14).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an air duct for supplying ambient air in an aircraft. Background technique [0002] The air ducts used in modern aircraft to supply ambient air to the various systems located on board the aircraft are traditionally configured as ram air ducts with air inlets and diffusers. During cruise of the aircraft, ambient air flows into the ram air duct through the air inlet. In a diffuser, some of the dynamic pressure of the surrounding air flow is converted to static pressure due to the slowing of the air flow. As a result, a static pressure higher than the ambient pressure is induced in the ram air duct, the so-called ram pressure ensuring that the air flows through the ram air duct is supplied to the aircraft equipment to be supplied with ambient air, for example to the devices arranged in the ram air duct heat exchanger. On the other hand, during ground operation of the aircraft, mechanical supply equipment such as blowers ensure ...
