[0072]In block 202, a hydrocarbon feedstock is provided. As noted above, the hydrocarbon feedstock may include one or more of methane, natural gas, petroleum or petrochemical liquids, mixtures thereof, or other suitable hydrocarbon feedstocks as described above. In block 204, the hydrocarbon feedstock may be subjected to various feedstock preparation processes to form a pyrolysis feedstock or may be provided directly to a thermal pyrolysis reactor as a pyrolysis feedstock. That is, the pyrolysis feedstock can be derived from a hydrocarbon feedstock. For example, the feedstock preparation process optionally includes the removal of impurities or contaminants prior to cracking. The feedstock preparation process may include mixing a hydrocarbon feedstock with a diluent feedstock. Feedstock preparation processes may include one or more condensate and water removal units, acid gasremoval units (e.g. caustic or amine treater units), dehydration units (e.g. glycol units), nitrogen ...

Abstract
An apparatus and method are provided for processinghydrocarbon feeds. The method may pass a pyrolysis feed to a thermal pyrolysis reactor and expose at least a portion of the pyrolysis feed to high-severity operating conditions in a thermal pyrolysis reactor, wherein the thermal pyrolysis reactor is operated at operating conditions that include pressure >= 36 psig and provide a reactor product that has a C3 + to C2 unsaturate weight ratio <= 0.5.
