This EGR gas cooling system has: a main cooling water circuit (6) for circulating cooling water for cooling an engine (3) between the engine (3), a main radiator (7) for causing the cooling water to release heat, and a primary EGR cooler (1) for cooling EGR gas using the cooling water; and a low-temperature cooling water circuit (9) for circulating the cooling water between: the engine (3); a sub-radiator (10), provided integrally with or separately from the main radiator (7), for causing the cooling water to release heat; and a secondary EGR cooler (2) for cooling the EGR gas using the cooling water; a flow rate control device (12) for controlling the flow rate of the cooling water being provided partway between the sub-radiator (10) and the engine (3) of the low-temperature cooling water circuit (9).
