The method is characterized by including steps of mixing concentrated sulfuric acid with hydrogen peroxide, adding a concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide mixture into beakers and cleaning a reacted mixture by the aid of deionized water; subjecting dried products to thermal shock in high-temperature furnaces to obtain expanded graphite; subjecting the expanded graphite to ball milling on ball mills to obtain nanometer expanded graphite; adding castor-oil acid and organic alkylol amine into reaction vessels, heating while stirring the castor-oil acid and the organic alkylol amine, enabling the castor-oil acid and the organic alkylol amine to react and then adding boric acid into the reaction vessels to obtain castor-oil and boric acid ester; diluting the castor-oil and boric acid ester by aqueous solution to obtain water-based lubricants; adding expanded graphite into the castor-oil and boric acid ester, and heating while stirring the expanded graphite and the castor-oil and boric acid ester to obtain the water-based lubricants with nanometer graphite. The method has the advantages that the expanded graphite is subjected to ball milling to obtain the nanometer-scale graphite, lubricating films are formed on metal surfaces by the aid of castor-oil and boric acid ester molecules, the nanometer graphite is excellent in adsorption performance and can be adsorbed on the lubricating films, self-lubricating properties of the graphite can be given to full play, and accordingly, the performance of the water-based lubricants can be improved; processes are simple, and the method is easy to implement and suitable for popularization.
