According to the meta-material technology based low-grating lobe planar array antenna, a meta-material cover plate is designed and is loaded on the array surface of the planar array antenna. The base material of the meta-material cover plate is a low-loss dielectric flat plate; the cover plate contains a large number of lengthways holes with sub-wavelength and in periodic arrangement. The meta-material cover plate can suppress the grating lobe electric level of the planar array antenna, can increase gain and aperture efficiency of the planar antenna array and can be used as a broadband.
