Abstract

The invention relates to a multi-rate simulation method and system for the joint simulation of a flexible HVDC AC power network, which establishes a power network model of a large AC / DC hybrid power network containing a VSC based on the multi-rate. A small-step VSC model is established according to the power network model. The simulation of the interface between small step VSC model and AC systemis carried out. The simplified discrete Newton method is used to calculate the VSC model of small step voltage source converter. This method can adopt different simulation step sizes for flexible DC and AC systems. The step size of DC part is variable, and the minimum can be as small as 0.0001 s. The typical step size of electromechanical transient is adopted for AC network. The AC network provides information to VSC by linear interpolation. The VSC injected into the AC grid uses multiple time steps of average power. Using multi-rate simulation can improve the computational efficiency of large-scale power system with different simulation step size models. A simplified discrete Newton method is used to improve the convergence problem of alternating iteration caused by high power injection of VSC into AC power system.
