Abstract

The invention discloses a temperature control device and method used for biomolecules, especially research in the nucleic acid reaction field. The device comprises multiple levels of temperature control units, and each level of temperature control unit comprises one heating or cooling device, at least one temperature sensor, and no more than one metal heat conduction device. The different levels of temperature control units are thermally coupled in a tight applying manner, the last level of temperature control unit is thermally coupled to a heat radiation device, and a thermal insulation housing is surrounded in the side surface of the whole device. Thus, heat can be efficiently and uniformly conducted among the temperature control units to reduce heat exchange between the side surface ofthe whole device and the outside. Each level of temperature control unit controls the temperature independently, and the temperature and duration of the different levels of temperature control units are coordinated and distributed by means of an algorithm, so that the energy utilization rate of the whole device is maximized, and the temperature change rate of the first level of temperature controlunit is improved greatly.
