[0080] A coating formulation of up to 35% total solids was developed containing the following ingredients: Hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC), Copovidone, Polydextrose, Medium Chain Triglycerides, Polyethylene Glycol , pigments and talc.

[0081] Coatings of five different formulations with varying amounts of hydroxypropylcellulose, polydextrose, copovidone were tested as shown in Table 1A and Table 1B. Again, these formulations were compared to control samples without hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC). These samples were applied to 2.5 kg of uncoated tablets using an O'Hara Labcoat II-X laboratory scale coater equipped with a 15 inch pan. Table 2 summarizes the operating conditions used to produce the reference coated tablets. Photos of samples such as figure 1 shown.

Abstract

The present application provides high solids film coating compositions comprising a water-soluble cellulose ether, hydroxy propyl cellulose (HPC), a poly (N-vinyl pyrrolidone-co- vinyl acetate) copolymer, a film-forming agent based on D-glucose, plasticizer, medium chain triglycerides (MCT) and an anti-tack agent. The invention further provides a process for preparing the above described film coating compositions and method of coating solid substrate with such coating compositions.
