Embodiment Construction

[0024] The embodiment of the tank device 1 according to the invention shown in the drawing has a three-arched (three-lobed) tank 100 lying flat. Each arch is formed by a section 101 , 102 , 103 of a cylindrical pressure vessel. Thus, the tank 100 has the shape of three parallel cylinders that are brought together. "Lay flat" means that the axis of the cylinder extends horizontally. The pressure vessel sections 101 , 102 , 103 , ie cylinders that are joined together, are arranged one above the other.

[0025] A so-called dome is arranged on the uppermost pressure vessel section 101 , in which dome is located the operating and monitoring elements for the tank 100 .

[0026] Adjacent pressure vessel sections 101 , 102 ; 102 , 103 overlapping one another are connected to each other by means of bulkheads 110 which are open to gases and liquids.

[0027] In the tank 100 , apart from the bulkhead 110 , no reinforcement means extending transversely through the interior cavity of th...

Abstract

A tank arrangement for storing and providing liquefied gas, in particular liquefied natural gas (LNG), for a fuel supply system on board a ship, having a tank having the shape of a double-arch (double-flap) or multi-arch (multi-flap), each arch being formed by a section of a cylindrical pressure vessel, the cylinder axes running horizontally and parallel to each other, the pressure vessel sections are arranged in an up-and-down overlapping manner; and a support structure for supporting the tank within the vessel, said support structure having: a first support which absorbs a downward acting vertical force and a horizontal force in and transverse to the direction of the cylindrical axis; at least one second support arranged horizontally in the direction of the cylinder axis at a predetermined distance from the first support and absorbing a downward acting vertical force and a horizontal force transverse to the cylinder axis; and at least one third support arranged at a predetermined vertical distance from the first support and the second support and absorbing at least horizontal forces transverse to the cylinder axis.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a tank device for storing and supplying liquefied gas, especially liquefied natural gas (Liquid Natural Gas-LNG), for a fuel supply system on board a ship. The invention also relates to a ship with such a tank arrangement. Background technique [0002] The use of liquefied natural gas to propel ocean-going vessels is gaining more and more attention due to increasing restrictions on permitted pollutant emissions. Various tank designs are available for storing and delivering LNG in ships. Some designs are very flexible in the utilization of the required space, but have little wiggle room in terms of operating parameters, such as pressure, temperature, volume. Correspondingly, some designs allow a high degree of flexibility in operation, but lead to a significant reduction in the utilization of space, especially if the available horizontal dimension changes at the height of the available space, for example at the bow or ...
