Abstract

The present invention relates to a substantially dry, disposable, personal cleansing product useful for both cleansing and conditioning the skin or hair. These products are used by the consumer by wetting the dry product with water. The product comprises a water insoluble substrate, a lathering surfactant, and an oil soluble conditioning agent. The invention also encompasses methods for cleansing and conditioning the skin or hair using these products and to methods for manufacturing these products.

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a substantially dry, disposable personal cleansing product suitable for cleansing and conditioning the skin or hair. Consumers can use it by moistening the dry product with water. Products contain water-insoluble substrates, lathering surfactants and oil-soluble conditioners. [0002] Use of liners enhances lather at low surfactant levels, increases cleansing and exfoliation, and optimizes delivery and deposition of conditioning ingredients. In general, the present invention provides an effective cleansing product wherein low levels of surfactant are used, thereby providing minimal irritation and providing excellent conditioning performance. [0003] The present invention also includes products containing various active ingredients that can be delivered to the skin or hair.
