Benefits of technology

[0013]In one aspect, there is provided a surface coating composition

Problems solved by technology

Up to now, existing roofing systems are very labor dependant and require multiple steps.
Existing roofing materials are primarily bituminous based asphaltic substances, and have inherent limitation in their abilities to perform well and over time when exposed to weathering conditions such as U.V exposure, wind, precipitation, temperature extremes and physical shocks.
Contamination problems arise with the use of traditional bituminous based roofing systems, where equipment and clothing eventually are covered with tar.
Substantial costs and labour is required in maintenance and replacement of the said equipment.
Additionally, traditional bituminous based systems require significant labor and machinery to lift materials to the roof surface.
Installation and removal of such system also require significant labor.
Furthermore, traditional roofing systems apply materials at elevated temperature (typically between 450° C.-900° C.) and results in injury, fire and worker safety issues.
Significant amount of Volatile Organic Compound (V.O.C) are present in traditional

Coal Tar-Epoxy Composition

[0100]The coating composition described in table 1, below was prepared in accordance with the following protocol:[0101]The 10-20 crumbs was mixed in proportion with buffings (90) and mixed mechanically until mixture was uniform. The approximate time required was about 2 minutes.[0102]The coal tar derivative was added to the DGEBA resin in proportion and mixed till uniform. The approximate time required was about 2 minutes.[0103]The Hardener was added to DGEBA resin and coal tar and thoroughly mixed by mechanical stirring until total distribution. The approximate time required was about 3 minutes.[0104]The rubber mixture was added to the mixture of hardener DGEBA resin and coal tar while agitating, until mixture uniform. The approximate time required was about 3 minutes.[0105]The mixture was applied within 10 minutes.

Heavy Oil-Monofunctional GE-Epoxy Composition

[0107]The coating composition described in tables 2 to 4, below were prepared in a similar manner as for example 1, except that the heavy oil and monofunctional GE were added in place of coal tar derivative.

example 3

Epoxy Composition

[0108]The coating composition described in tables 5 and 6, below were prepared in a similar manner as for example 1, except that the step of coal tar addition to the DGEBA resin and accompanying mixing was absent.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION[0001]The invention generally relates to surface coating composition, method and apparatus for coating a surface.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION[0002]Up to now, existing roofing systems are very labor dependant and require multiple steps.[0003]Existing roofing materials are primarily bituminous based asphaltic substances, and have inherent limitation in their abilities to perform well and over time when exposed to weathering conditions such as U.V exposure, wind, precipitation, temperature extremes and physical shocks.[0004]Contamination problems arise with the use of traditional bituminous based roofing systems, where equipment and clothing eventually are covered with tar. Substantial costs and labour is required in maintenance and replacement of the said equipment. Additionally, traditional bituminous based systems require significant labor and machinery to lift materials to the roof surface.
