Abstract

The invention provides a method and a device for generating RoF (Radio-over-Fiber) system millimeter waves by adopting SOA (semiconductor optical amplifiers), which belongs to the field of millimeter wave generation in ROF communication technology. The method comprises: inputting pump light and signal light into the SOA, adopting the SOA to produce obvious four-wave mixing effect and obtaining optical millimeter waves needed by a RoF system through a filter; utilizing the four-wave mixing effect to fix phase between light waves so as to obviously reduce phase noise of the system and improve the performance of the system; adopting a proper optical fiber combination for transmission in order to effectively reduce dispersion damage, nonlinear damage and attenuation damage during the transmission of system signals; and performing frequency beating on the optical millimeter waves at a photoelectric detection end so as to generate electric millimeter waves. A RoF millimeter wave generation system built by the invention has the advantages of low phase noise, good performance, simple structure, low price and easiness for practical use, thereby providing strong support for the optimization of RoF millimeter wave systems and intensive study in the field.
