[0014] The process of the present invention separates a hydrocarbon stream containing acidic contaminants, particularly a natural gas stream, into two relatively pure streams, a hydrocarbon stream and a stream containing acidic contaminants. The method uses relatively inexpensive membranes. When compared to conventional treatment methods such as amine absorption including regeneration, the membrane unit requires a relatively small operating area, requires a small amount of energy and requires only a small amount of operational effort. Furthermore, the requirements for maintenance and inspection are modest.
