The extract of the effective part is prepared from Clinopodium chinense (Benth.) O. Kuntze as a raw material, a concentrate is obtained by pulverizing, ethanol extraction and reduced pressure recovery, the concentrate is extracted by petroleum ether and ethyl acetate, and the obtained ethyl acetate extract is purified by macroporous resin. The extract of the effective part mainly comprises total flavone and terpenoids, and has obvious effects of reducing blood sugar of rats with streptozotocin diabetes, reducing the content of serum cholesterol, protecting the islet cells, inhibiting the activity of alpha-glucosidase, and protecting the vascular endothelial cells.
