Abstract

The invention discloses a method for transmitting small data packets. During the procedure of performing bearer creation by Machine-Type-Communication User Equipment (MTC UE), small data packets needing to be transmitted are carried to a media gateway in a network; and the media gateway transmits the received small data packets to an MTC server. The invention also discloses a system for transmitting small data packets. According to the application requirements of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, network optimization is performed directing to transmitting the small data packets in an M2M off-line state, thereby saving the allocation of the wireless resources and the core network media resources, reducing the mobility management and signalling interaction in an off-line transmission mode, and improving the utilization ratio of the network resources.
