Abstract

A large two-stroke turbocharged diesel engine of the crosshead type provided with an exhaust gas recirculation system and with a fuel injection system that can, selectively add water to the fuel flow to thereby increase the mass flow through the injection nozzles under particular operating conditions, e.g. at high exhaust gas recirculation rates.
