Abstract

The invention discloses a method for preparing low molecular weight polyacrylamide with the molecular weight of 100,000 to 250,000 and belongs to the field of polymer synthesis. In the method, an aqueous solution polymerization is adopted; ethanol is used as a heat transfer solvent and a chain transfer agent; ammonium persulfate is used as an initiator; and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt is used as a stabilizer. The low molecular weight polyacrylamide with the molecular weight of 100,000 to 250,000 is synthetised by continuously and respectively dropwise adding acrylamide solution and initiator solution, performing a polymerization reaction at a reflux temperature of 80 to 90 DEG C and regulating the using amounts of the ethanol and the ammonium persulfate. The low molecular weight polyacrylamide synthetised by the method has good water solubility and is suitable to be used as a polymer co-emulsifier, a dispersing agent, an adhesive, a tackifier and the like.
