Provided is an electric-vehicle propulsion power-conversion device that is suited for usages wherein power regeneration from an inverter unit (30) to a power storage unit (50), and power supplying from the power storage unit (50) to the inverter unit (30) are frequently used. The electric-vehicle propulsion power-conversion device is provided with: a converter unit (10) that has a power supply voltage input thereto from outside, converts the voltage to a direct current with a prescribed value, and outputs the direct current; the inverter unit (30) that is connected to the output side of the converter unit (10), and drives a motor (40); and the power storage unit (50) that is connected to the output side of the converter unit (10). A converter control unit (14) provided within the converter unit (10) generates current commands for the converter unit (10), and controls the charging-discharging of the power storage unit (50) on the basis of those current commands.
