In a combined steam and gas turbine engine cycle, a combustion chamber is made durable against high pressure and enlarged in length to increase the operation pressure ratio, without exceeding the heat durability temperature of the system while increasing the fuel combustion gas mass flow four times as much as the conventional turbine system and simultaneously for greatly raising the thermal efficiency of the system and specific power of the combined steam and gas turbine engine.Water pipes and steam pipes are arranged inside the combustion chamber so that the combustion chamber can function as a heat exchanger and thereby convert most of the combustion thermal energy into super-critical steam energy for driving a steam turbine and subsequently raising the operation pressure ratio and the thermal efficiencies of the steam turbine cycle and gas turbine cycle. The combustion gas mass flow can be also increased by four times as much as the conventional turbine system (up to the theoretical air to fuel ratio) and the thermal efficiency and the specific power of the gas turbine cycle are considerably increased.Further, the thermal efficiency of the combined system is improved by installing a magnetic friction power transmission system to transmit the power of the system to outer loads.

Smart Active Antenna Radiation Pattern Optimising System For Mobile Devices Achieved By Sensing Device Proximity Environment With Property, Position, Orientation, Signal Quality And Operating Modes

The smart dynamic radiation pattern optimising system is a design and technique to actively shape & optimise the radiation pattern of mobile device controlled by smart RF/Antenna system with signal processing algorithm that works by sensing the change in device proximity environment with nature or property, range, orientation, position, location, signal quality parameters and ambient intelligence to protect the user by controlling radiation exposure, enhance RF signal quality and to save battery power. Mobile devices are handled in different proximity environment which influence the antenna performance due to electromagnetic interaction based on environments properties that leads to detuning, radiation pattern distortion, impedance mismatch etc which in turn degrades the signal quality. Also change in device orientation according to usage leads to power loss due to polarization mismatch. So when the signal quality degrades the system will sense & compute in an adaptive closed loop manner to actively optimise the radiation pattern according to scenarios. The design consist of (a) a sensor system 220 to determine the change in proximity environment [close vicinity] with sensing its property, sensing multi-direction, dimension, layer, position & range of proximity environment with respect to device, sensing device (antenna) orientation, visual sensing, infrared or thermal vision, user recognition, user head & hand hold effect, location, usage scenarios & operating modes and accordingly generate the trigger signal 230; (b) a processing unit 150 for computing the interrupt control signal 140 according to the nature of trigger signal & existing signal quality parameters; (c) Smart active radiation pattern optimiser 120 that works based on control signal; (d) Antenna system 110 capable of achieving dynamic radiation pattern coupled with radiation pattern optimiser that actively shapes and controls the radiation pattern accordingly to protect the user and also restores radiation according to scenarios to optimise communication. Other aspects of the present invention are the same sensor system 220 is utilised to develop an application that guides the user locate & position the mobile device in living space to achieve optimised performance, protect the mobile device from theft and ambient intelligence to alert & interact with the user.

Illumination apparatus providing longitudinal illumination

An illumination device using an innovative design to provide a uniform, highly concentrated and substantially longitudinal illumination. The device includes, at least one light source unit, a compound light guide with a built-in light-extracting feature and a reflective envelope. The compound light guide comprises two optically coupled sub-guides. A first sub-guide has a constant cross-section area with a profile optimized for an integral light-concentrating optics, and a second sub-guide has a varying cross-section area for controlling local light flux density inside the light guide and providing assembly means. Said light extracting feature having variable light extraction efficiency improves illumination uniformity at an area close to a light input end of the light guide without displacing a light source from the central normal line of a light-extracting feature. The extracted light from the light-extracting feature forms an effective light-emitting object with a constant width for the integral light-concentrating optics and therefore, the width of the light-extracting feature can be modulated to improve illumination uniformity without affecting the width of illumination. The reflective envelope recycles all light leaked out of the light guide and protects the light guide from environmental contamination and provides mechanical interface between the device and the application assembly.
