A strain limiting method is applied to dynamic cloth simulation, so that a distortion phenomenon in the simulation can be prevented. The method comprises the main following steps of: calculating a cloth simulation animation by using the knowledge of dynamics, and identifying an oscillation and excessive deformation area; processing the identified area by using an improved strain limiting method; and performing collision detection and response. Due to the adoption of the improved strain limiting method,the problems of oscillation and excessive deformation in the dynamic cloth simulation are solved, the problem of cloth visual effect distortion caused by the oscillation and the excessive deformationin the dynamic cloth simulation is solved, and the phenomenon that cloth is deformed to produce a viscous feeling and is levitated on the skin of a human body without additional damping force is avoided.
