The method comprises the following steps of: 1. drying the sewage sludge and the river sediment; 2. crushing the dried sewage sludge and river sediment, respectively; 3. mixing the crushed sewage sludge particles with the crushed river sediment particles, thereby obtaining a dry mix; 4. mixing an additive and water with the dry mix and then performing extrusion forming on the mixture, thereby obtaining a ceramisite blank; and 5. putting the ceramisite blank in a muffle furnace for sintering, thereby finishing the preparation of the ceramisite. The preparation method has the following advantages that: the sewage sludge and the river sediment are taken as raw materials, so that secondary pollution is effectively prevented and recycling of the sludge and the changing of waste material into things of value are realized; the shortcoming of high cost in ceramisite preparation is overcome; and water glass is further added so that the lightweight ceramisite is high in strength and low in density, and has the advantages of low water absorption, low hydrochloric acid solubility and the like.
