Abstract

The invention discloses an optical input unit which comprises a transparent indicating plate containing a photochromic material. When light of the first wave length is used for irradiating a part of the transparent indicating plate from the outside, the light of the first wave length passes through the photochromic material in a transmission mode so as to change the absorptive character of the photochromic material at the transmission passing position. Therefore, the transparent indicating plate at the irradiating position changes colors. Users can distinguish the irradiating position clearly. The optical input unit further comprises a built-in light source, an optical detector and a processor. The built-in light source is arranged on one side of the transparent indicating plate and used for irradiating the transparent indicating plate through light of the second wave length so as to enable the light of the second wave length to pass through the photochromic material in a transmission mode. The optical detector is arranged on the other side of the transparent indicating plate, is opposite to the built-in light source and is used for detecting the intensity of the light of the second wave length and from the built-in light source. The processor is connected with the optical detector and used for determining the position of the light of the first wave length and passing through the photochromic material in a transmission mode according to the results detected by the optical detector. An optical input device comprising the optical input unit and a position input method used for the optical input unit are further provided.
