Abstract

The invention discloses a method for detecting and determining fracturing fracture height by using a propping agent. A high capture cross-section material Gd2O3 is added in the propping agent. By using action of pulsed neutrons and the propping agent, Gd capture gamma count is obtained, and fracturing fracture height is determined. After hydrofracture of a stratum, the propping agent containing the high capture cross-section material is injected through stratum fracturing fractures. A pulsed neutron logging instrument is used to measure stratum mixed gamma spectrum. The gamma spectrum is processed to obtain capture gamma count of the high capture cross-section material of a measured well section, so as to determine positions of the propping agent and fracture height. Compared with an existing fracture height determining technology, the method is advantaged by single measurement, high measuring sensitivity, and no radioactive pollution.
