An aqueous pigment dispersion characterized by comprising a polymer (A), a pigment and water, wherein the polymer (A) has an anionic group, has solubility in water of 0.1 g / 100 ml or less, can form fine particles in water when the rate of neutralization of the anionic group with a basic compound is 100%, and has a number average molecular weight falling within the range from 1000 to 6000; and an aqueous ink for inkjet recording use. It is preferred that the polymer (A) is a polymer represented by general formula (1).
