Embodiment approach 1

[0042] In the display device of the present invention, the area ratio of the display region to the display device is increased by folding and fixing the peripheral portion (terminal region) of the substrate toward the back. At this time, if image 3 As shown, the base material 146 is disposed at a position sandwiched between the folded-back portion of the first substrate 102 and a part of the rear surface of the first substrate 102 (opposed region).

[0043] In addition, in this embodiment, if figure 2 As shown, the display device has: a part of the peripheral part is fixed together with the back surface of the TFT side substrate 118 (or the first substrate 102) through the adhesive layer 148; a part of the peripheral part is in direct contact with the substrate 146 and a third overlapping portion 158 in which a part of the peripheral portion is connected to the substrate 146 through the adhesive layer 148 . Thereby, it is difficult to form a gap (space) inside the bent por...

Embodiment approach 2

[0052] In Embodiment 2, a protective film 160 is provided on the back surface of the first substrate 102 opposite to the CF-side substrate 120 . The protective film 160 is provided for, for example, physically protecting the panel, improving strength when the panel is bent, preventing moisture from entering the panel from the outside through the first substrate 102, and protecting wiring and light emitting layers.

[0053] Such as image 3 , Image 6 As shown, the protective film 160 is arranged so as to span the region where the adhesive layer 148 and the base material 146 are arranged from the region where the TFT-side substrate 118 and the CF-side substrate 120 overlap. exist image 3 , Image 6 In this case, the region where the protective film 160 is disposed does not extend to the end of the TFT-side substrate 118 on the side where the terminal region 114 is formed. However, the region where the protective film 160 is disposed may extend to the end.

Abstract

The invention provides a bendable dispaly device which can prevent wire breakage in wiring by eliminating gaps of bending portions. A display device includes a substrate including a peripheral region folded back to face a rear surface of the substrate, and a counter region facing the peripheral region; and a filling member held between the peripheral region and the counter region. The substrate is folded such that the display device includes a first overlapping portion where a part of the peripheral region is bonded with the counter region with an adhesive material; a second overlapping portion where a part of the peripheral region is in direct contact with the filling member; and a third overlapping portion where a part of the peripheral region is bonded with the filling member with an adhesive material.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to display devices. In particular, it relates to the structure of a substrate in a bendable display device. Background technique [0002] An organic electroluminescent (hereinafter referred to as organic EL) display device displays an image by providing a light-emitting element in each pixel and controlling light emission individually. The light-emitting element has a structure in which a layer containing an organic EL material (hereinafter also referred to as "light-emitting layer") is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes, one of which is an anode electrode and the other is a cathode electrode. In an organic EL display device, one electrode is provided as a pixel electrode for each pixel, and the other electrode is provided as a common electrode for applying a common potential across a plurality of pixels. In the organic EL display device, the potential of the pixel electrode is applied to each pixel with respect to ...
