The detection method comprises the steps of: arranging a signal sensing device in an effective detection region of an armature magnetic field and a stator magnetic field generated after the brush motor to be detected is electrified, acquiring a first induced voltage signal induced by the armature magnetic field and a second induced voltage signal induced by the stator magnetic field at the position of the signal sensing device, determining and outputting a current rotating direction of the brush motor to be detected according to a prestored rotating direction judgment rule of the brush motor to be detected by utilizing a polarity (or phase sequence) relationship of the two induced voltage signals, and judging whether the current rotating direction is a correct rotating direction and outputting a result by utilizing a prestored rotating direction rule of a standard sample brush motor to be detected, so that a detecting personnel can know whether the current rotating direction of the brush motor to be detected conforms to its rotating direction requirement.
