The method comprises the steps that S1, a principal component analysis method is used to combine various acquired water quality index values into a comprehensive index value; and S2, an RBF (Radial Basis Function) neural network optimized through an ant colony algorithm is used to acquire a water quality evaluation result according to the comprehensive index value. According to the method, the principal component analysis method is used to combine the various acquired water quality index values into the comprehensive index value, and dimensionality reduction is performed on the various water quality index values according to the interrelation among various water quality indexes, so that a data structure is simplified, and operation speed is increased; and meanwhile, the RBF neural network optimized through the ant colony algorithm is used to acquire the water quality evaluation result according to the comprehensive index value, so that convergence speed is high, a network structure is simple, robustness is high, and it is not liable to get stuck into a local minimal point.
