[0034] Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to batteries, particularly rechargeable (secondary) batteries with lithium anodes, which exhibit improved corrosion resistance across the operating voltage range. The battery may be a secondary high energy density lithium ion battery. A battery can include a cathode, a lithium metal anode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte. The electrolyte inhibits corrosion of surfaces in contact with the electrolyte, such as surfaces comprising stainless steel, aluminum, or aluminum alloys. The cathode may include a high voltage cathode active material. The nonaqueous electrolyte may include a solvent, and a combination of two or more salts. Such salts may include imino salts and perchlorates. The imino salt can be or include a fluorosulfonyl group. The nonaqueous electrolyte can be electrochemically stable at operating voltages between 3V and 4.5V. Nonaqueous electrolytes can be chemically stable with Li metal anodes.
