A composite power amplifier (100) for amplifying an input signal into an output signal is disclosed. The composite power amplifier (100) includes an input port (170) for receiving an input signal and an output port (180) for providing an output signal. Furthermore, the composite power amplifier (100) comprises a first set (110) of sub-amplifiers comprising at least two sub-amplifiers (111, 112), wherein said at least two sub-amplifiers (111, 112) are along a first transmission line (151 ) in a tapered line arrangement, wherein the first transmission line (151) is connected to the first set of sub-amplifiers (110) and the output port (180). Additionally, the composite power amplifier (100) includes a second set (120) of sub-amplifiers (120) comprising at least two sub-amplifiers (121, 122), wherein the at least two sub-amplifiers (121, 122) are along a second transmission line (152 ) in a tapered line arrangement in which the second transmission line (152) is connected to the second set of sub-amplifiers (120) and the output port (180).
