Abstract

The invention discloses a virtual machine scheduling system and method based on double rates and work dormancy. The system includes a control server and a compute server, wherein the compute server isdivided into a main module server and a standby module server. A time-out timer and a virtual machine scheduler run in the control server, and a load monitoring system runs in the compute server. Thevirtual machine scheduler in the control server adopts double thresholds theta1 and theta2 to together control the running state of a virtual machine in the main module server, and an activation threshold theta3 is introduced to control the running state of a virtual machine in the standby module server. The load monitoring system of the compute server collects the loading condition of each virtual machine in real time, sends the loading condition to the virtual machine scheduler, and receives and executes scheduling instructions sent by the virtual machine scheduler. By using the virtual machine scheduling system and method, and setting the reasonable activation threshold, a work dormancy service rate and work dormancy parameters, effective saving of energy consumption can be achieved under the premise of guaranteeing the response performance.
