Abstract

The invention discloses a polarization-maintaining dispersion compensation microstructure optical fiber comprising an inner core, an inner cladding layer, an outer core and an outer cladding layer. Air holes adopted by the inner cladding layer, the outer core and the outer cladding layer are all oval air holes with consistent long and short axis directions; the oval air holes contained by the inner cladding layer and the outer cladding layer are the same in size; and the inner core, the inner cladding layer, the outer core and the outer cladding layer are all made of quartz as substrate materials. The centers of the oval air holes employ modes of arrangement of isosceles triangles having the bottoms and heights consistent with the long-axis directions and the short-axis directions of the oval air holes respectively; and the bottom of each isosceles triangle is lambda x and the height of the isosceles triangle is lambda y. According to the invention, the inner core has a polarization maintaining characteristic and the refractive indexes of the two polarization modes of the inner core are respectively intersected with the refractive indexes of the two polarization modes of the outercore near 1550nm, so that the large negative dispersion is realized at the 1550 nm position and thus dispersion compensation can be realized at the 1550 nm position in the two directions. The contradiction between dispersion compensation at the 1550 nm position in the two directions and polarization maintaining characteristics is eliminated.
