Abstract

The application provides an on-line detection method and system for internal defects of a composite insulator of a line. An air gap defect existing in a composite insulator of a line is detected by determining a maximum temperature difference in a to-be-detected area of the composite insulator by using a collected infrared thermogram as a reference object based on portable external constant-current heat source excitation. According to the invention, the line composite insulator is heated by a constant-current heat source based on the heat flow propagation principle, infrared thermogram acquisition and surface temperature analysis; the propagation of the heat flow in the defect area and the defect-free area of the insulator is different and the temperature field distribution difference canbe reflected on the surface of the insulator; a thermal image sequence and the temperature distribution are collected by a thermal infrared imager so as to analyze the defect rapidly and accurately, so that a problem of difficulty in identifying deep defects and the like due to the relatively large curvature of the line composite insulator and relatively large thickness of a sheath are solved.
