Embodiment Construction

[0069] figure 1 A cross-sectional view of a system or device for joining thermoplastic parts of an aircraft by means of resistance welding is shown in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The device or resistance welding system comprises an electrically conductive heating element 30 for welding the first part 11 to the second part 12 in the electrically heated area of the parts.

[0070] The parts 11 , 12 to be welded comprise thermoplastic material and are arranged in overlapping regions on both sides of the heating element 30 for resistance welding.

[0071] The heating element 30 comprises an electrically conductive element 30a formed as a wire and / or fiber for heating the components 11, 12 when an electrical voltage is applied (see also Figure 3a and 3b ). The heating element 30 is designed to remain in the welded joint after the welding process and to be permanently used as a reinforcing element therein for the parts 11 , 12 welded to eac...

Abstract

A heating element (30) for resistance welding of thermoplastic components for aircraft comprises electrically conductive elements (30a) in the form of wires or fibres, which heat up upon application of an electric voltage to the heating element (30), to weld a first component (11) to a second component (12) in a region electrically heated by the heating element (30). The electrically conductive elements (30a) extend parallel to one another between contact regions (35, 36) for electrically contacting the heating element (30). After the welding procedure, the heating element (30) remains betweenthe welded components (11, 12) to enhance the strength of the welded bond. A device for bonding thermoplastic components by resistance welding comprises the heating element (30) and a unit (31, 32) in the form of roller electrodes for displacing an electrically heated region of the components (11, 12) in the welding direction. The electrically conductive elements (30a) extend parallel to the axisof rotation (31a, 32a) of the roller electrodes.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a heating element for resistance welding of thermoplastic parts, in particular for the production of aircraft. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device and a method for joining thermoplastic parts, in particular for the production of aircraft, by resistance welding, and to aircraft. Background technique [0002] Components made of composite materials and / or fiber composite materials are increasingly used to configure modern aircraft and / or aircraft. The individual parts are connected to one another, for example by riveting, adhesives, screws or welding. [0003] The fuselage of an aircraft generally comprises a fixed frame made of stiffening elements, which supports a skin made of composite material. Stringers and frames are used as reinforcement elements, wherein the stringers extend in the longitudinal direction of the fuselage and the frames extend in the circumferential direction of the fuselage. During the product...
