Embodiment Construction

[0020] with reference to the attached Figure 1 to Figure 4 , illustrates an immiscible liquid separator 10 suitable for accommodating a wide range of liquid streams. The illustrated immiscible liquid separator unit 10 constructed in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is suitable for separating immiscible liquids such as oil and water commonly produced in food processing facilities. The immiscible liquid separator 10 includes an enclosure 12 having a generally rectangular top 14 covered by a cover (not shown). The lid is a shoebox style lid sealed to the rim of the open top with a neoprene seal. The cover may be secured to the enclosure 12 by clips or other quick release fasteners. The cap may be removed periodically to gain access to the oil reservoir to remove the oil by suctioning it out of the oil reservoir. The top is constructed with a flange (not shown) around it to provide an interface with the cover. The cover is constructed with a peripheral t...

Abstract

A large capacity immiscible liquid separator adapted to be placed underground rather than under a sink of a food processing facility. The liquid separator has a large oil compartment that can be vacuum suctioned to empty the contents therein. A large volume of immiscible liquid influent can be treated without using a ball valve. A large circumferential weir allows a large volume of separated wastewater to overflow to the sewage system. The weir may be H-shaped to provide a large perimeter and thus contain a large amount of separated wastewater flowing through the weir.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This PCT patent application is related to US Patent No. 10,300,406 issued on the same date. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to liquid separators, and more particularly to water / oil separation equipment that can accommodate a wide range of effluent streams and be buried underground to also separate effluent from floor drains and floor mounted mop sinks come out. Background technique [0004] In some industries, and in particular the food industry, there is a need to separate liquid grease, fats and oils from wastewater before it is sent to the sewage system. For example, waste water can drain from washing fixtures used to wash dishes and cookware, floor drains and mop sinks. If grease and fat solidify in the sewage system, blockages can occur which can be costly to repair. [0005] It has been found that liquid waste from kitchens is usually an immiscible mixture of water and oil. It is well known that a...
