Abstract

The invention belongs to the technical field of medicines, and provides an application of badoxolone methyl in preparation of a medicine for preventing and treating osteoarthritis in order to solve the problem that no good medicine for treating osteoarthritis exists at present and can relieve lesions or obviously promote generation of extracellular matrixes. The badoxolone methyl is applied to preparation of the osteoarthritis prevention and treatment medicine for promoting generation of cartilage extracellular matrix. According to the application disclosed by the invention, the remarkable effect of the badoxolone methyl in preventing and treating the osteoarthritis is found for the first time, the badoxolone methyl acts on normal and IL-1beta stimulated ATDC5 cartilage cells, and under the normal and IL-1beta stimulated conditions, it can be observed that generation of an extracellular matrix is promoted, and catabolism is inhibited. The badoxolone methyl is proved to have relatively strong potential of stimulating generation of cartilage extracellular matrix and protecting cartilage degradation.
