Abstract

A socket connector of spherical grating array to be used to package the integrated circuit onto the circuit board in electric connection includes an insulated base, several conductive terminals beingfixed on the base, several welding balls to contact with the tail parts of the corresponding terminals, and a shell to contact with the base by sliding. The base has upper surface, bottom surface, and several housing holes through upper surface arranged in matrix on bottom surface for housing the terminals into the corresponding house holes on the base, also it has several pad blocks which protrude downwards along the bottom surface of base and stop at a plane parallel with the bottom surface of the base. Each welding ball has a bottom tail end which can enlongate over the plane and several openings located at the periphery of housing hole matrix are set up on the bottom surface of the base.
