Problems solved by technology

However, they also have considerable disadvantages, such as having to draw the blood sample out of the test tube using a pipette or capillary, and subsequently cleaning and replacing it between one test and the next, which leads to the necessity to dispose of all Waste liquid or solid waste generated, thus increasing the complexity of the appliance and the corresponding expense of its disposal, and also leading to an increase in production costs
Additionally, there are inherent dangers of contamination in sequential sample analysis

Embodiment Construction

[0072] now refer to Figures 1 to 18 The first embodiment will be described.

[0073] According to this first embodiment, the device comprises two parts or parts: a vibrating, depositing and reading part or part with a curved part, wherein the curved part has a holder for holding a test tube; and a mounting On the curved part, hereafter referred to as the part or part of the setting unit. In more economical, less automated installations, the setting unit can also be omitted. In the following paragraphs, the vibration, depositing and reading components are described first, followed by the optional setting unit with corresponding components for transferring the test tubes.

[0074] First refer to Figures 1 to 11 , the lower part of the device generally indicated by reference numeral 12 comprises a curved part 1 consisting of a series of chain-like structures formed by individual elements 3, which will be explained below with reference to FIGS. 2 to 7 . Each element 3 carrie...

Abstract

An appliance or device is described for measuring the sedimentation rate in biological fluids, and particularly the erythrocyte sedimentation rate in blood samples. The device comprises: holders (3) for test tubes (P) containing samples of biological fluid; agitator devices (25) for agitating the test tubes; at least one detector (17, 19) for reading the levels inside the test tubes. The holders together form a continuous flexible member (1) defining a closed path along which the agitator devices and the detector are arranged.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a device or appliance for measuring biological fluids, especially for measuring particle deposition in biological fluids, especially for measuring erythrocyte deposition rate. The invention also relates to a method of performing said measurements. Background technique [0002] Measurement of erythrocyte deposition rate can be used as part of routine analysis of blood samples. This analysis is usually carried out using a specially shaped test tube or cuvette adapted to take photometric measurements by means of a transmitter-receiver that slides axially along the test tube. A test tube suitable for the above-mentioned applications is disclosed, for example, in EP-B-898700. In WO-A-9743621 and US-A-5133208, devices for measuring red blood cell deposition rate using special test tubes are disclosed. [0003] The improved instrument eliminates the need for special tubes to measure red blood cell sedimentation rate, but in...
