A content control system for limiting access by sensitive users, such as children, or the like, to certain types of content. The content control system provides a user interface for an information handling system, information appliance, content recorder, or the like that provides a single point of user control for parental locks for multiple audio and/or audiovisual devices. In embodiments of the invention, the content control system may employ a method of setting the content rating parameters of a content control system based on content rating of example content. The content control system may also employ a method for modifying the content rating of content received by a content recorder such as a personal video recorder, or the like.

A system is disclosed that provides access to a large amount of content using a traditional interface. The system has many applications, one of which is for providing access to audio/visual content. Examples of audio/visual content includes compressed digital music data and video data. In one embodiment, the system receives an indication of a first mode, accesses a first playlist for the first mode, and plays tracks according to the first playlist. In this embodiment, each mode is associated with a different attribute, each mode includes one or more playlists of tracks, and each playlist of a particular mode is based on a different value for the attribute associated with the particular mode. Examples of attributes include artist, album, genre, etc. Thus, there can be an artist mode, an album node, a genre mode, etc. For example, each playlist in the artist mode is associated with a particular artist. All tracks on a given playlist in the artist mode would be associated with the same artists.

First control information, generated according to a first protocol version, for configuring an audiovisual device to present a multimedia stream, may be generated. A first data structure specifying that the first control information is of the first protocol version may be generated. A plurality of packets, including a multimedia stream, the first control information, and the first data structure, may be generated and transmitted. Second control information, generated according to a second protocol version, for configuring an audiovisual device to present a multimedia stream, may be generated. The first data structure may be modified to include information about the second control information. A second plurality of packets, including the modified first data structure, the first control information, a multimedia stream specified by the first control information, the second control information, and a multimedia stream specified by the second control information, may be generated.

Systems and methods for alarm tone selection and distribution are disclosed. A first device may be configured to allow user selection of a content item for rendering in conjunction with a predefined alarm tone event such as an alarm, meeting time, or other event. The content item may then be associated with an application configured to render content upon occurrence of the event, and the user may be enabled to purchase non-owned content. The user may be further enabled to send content or a reference to content to a second device associated with a second user, where the second user may then be enabled to purchase and use the content for alarm tone functionality on the second device.

The apparatus (1) comprises a guitar (3) having strings (42) operable by a user to generate electric signals, a control unit (2), storage means for a simulation backing track in any desired multi-media file format and audio/audio-visual equipment for playing a main track. An editing apparatus generates a capsular work in which usage conditions for each of plural usages and usage secret information, obtained by encrypting a decryption key encrypted work data with ticket keys which differ depending on usage from each other, are encapsulated together with the encrypted work data. A ticket server apparatus, which manages the usage conditions and the ticket keys, issues a ticket containing a ticket key in the case of allowing a user to practice the usage requested by the user. A distribution center apparatus, which manages the capsular work, distributes the capsular work in accordance with the user's request. An audiovisual apparatus acquires the capsular work from the distribution center apparatus and requests the ticket necessary to make use of the capsular work from the ticket server apparatus. A remote control controls an audiovisual apparatus, such as a TV, using conventional physical inputs, such as buttons, or by controlled movement of the remote control. A multimedia device integration system is provided. One or more after-market audio or video devices, such as a CD player, CD changer, digital media device, satellite receiver, DAB receiver, video device, digital camera, cellular telephone, portable navigation device, or any other device or combinations thereof, is integrated for use with an existing OEM or after-market car stereo or video system, wherein control commands can be issued at the car stereo or video system and data from the after-market device can be displayed on the car stereo or video system. Instructions generated at the car stereo or video system are received, processed, converted into a format recognizable by the after-market device, and dispatched to the after-market device for execution. Information from the after-market device is converted into a format recognizable by the car stereo or video system, and dispatched to the car stereo or video system for display thereon. The invention discloses simulated group interaction with multimedia content. A method and system for generating time synchronized data streams based on a viewer's interaction with a multimedia content stream is provided. A viewer's interactions with a multimedia content stream being viewed by the viewer are recorded. The viewer's interactions include comments provided by the viewer, while viewing the multimedia content stream. Comments include text messages, audio messages, video feeds, gestures or facial expressions provided by the viewer. A time synchronized commented data stream is generated based on the viewer's interactions. The time synchronized commented data stream includes the viewer's interactions time stamped relative to a virtual start time at which the multimedia content stream is rendered to the viewer. One or more time synchronized data streams are rendered to the viewer, via an audiovisual device, while the viewer views a multimedia content stream.

A wireless communications link between a communication line connector and at least one audio-visual device is provided. The communications link preferably includes a communication line side unit, including: (a) a communication line side connector for engagement with the communication line connector for bidirectional audio-visual data communication, providing communication between a communication line and the at least one audio-visual device, (b) a communication line side infrared transmitter adapted to transmit diffuse infrared radiation corresponding to the data communication, and (c) a communication line side infrared receiver adapted to receive diffuse infrared radiation corresponding to the data communication. Viewed content from a universe of monitored AV audio-visual devices is collected. Identifiers of audio-visual devices that received an ad impression for the audio-visual work are also collected. The lift metric may be determined from statistical analysis of this data.

A system for tracking a cinematography target can comprise an emitter configured to attach to a target and to emit a tracking signal. A tracker can be configured to receive the tracking signal from the emitter and to track the emitter based upon the received tracking signal. The tracker can comprise a control module configured to identify a location of the target and to position an audiovisual device to align with a target. Additionally, the tracker can comprise a script execution processor configured to execute a user selected script. The user selected script may be selected from a set of respectively unique scripts. The user selected script can determine one or more control module movements specific to tracking the emitter.
