According to one embodiment a method of applying the transitory corrective modification is provided. An output signal of an exhalation flow sensor of a medical ventilator is received. The flow sensor includes a hot-wire anemometer. The output signal is indicative of a rate of flow of expired gas by a patient. Transient thermal response of the hot-wire anemometer is compensated for by applying a corrective modification to the output signal or a value based thereon. The corrective modification is based at least in part on a fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) being supplied by the medical ventilator to the patient.

A system and method in a radio telecommunications network for reconnecting an emergency call between a roaming mobile station with an emergency (emergency MS) and a public safety answering point (PSAP) when the call has been disconnected before the call was finished. The network includes a serving mobile switching center (MSC) serving the emergency MS, a border MSC bordering the serving MSC, and a home location register (HLR) that stores features and subscription data for the emergency MS. When the emergency call begins, a hotlining feature for the emergency MS is activated in the HLR which automatically reconnects the emergency MS to the PSAP when the MS accesses the network through a registration or by originating a subsequent call. Inter-exchange messages ensure that the emergency MS is automatically connected to the PSAP, even if the emergency MS accesses the network in the border MSC.

The interrupting contact assembly includes interrupting contacts that provide electrical continuity between the hot line terminal and the hot load terminal, and the neutral line terminal and the neutral load terminal in a reset condition. The interrupting contact assembly is also configured to open the interrupting contacts in response to receiving the fault detection signal.

In this modification, the frequency of the pulse train is proportional to the air flow rate through the air flow sensor.
