Abstract

The disclosed free stereo display (FSD) system is composed of three systems: the system for obtaining and reconstituting 3D scene or optical field of object, the system for obtaining space positions of human eyes, and 3D display system. FSD method includes procedures: first, using technique of optical field obtains and builds database of optical field of stereo scene; next, using binocular visiontechnique (BVT) realizes realtime tracking and accurate positioning eyes of the observer, and calculating coordinates of space positions of two eyes; the positions of two eyes are equivalent to two viewpoints in space, which are inputted into computer; using optical field reconstitution technique to pick up views from two viewpoints so as to form two images with parallax, which are transferred totwo projectors, and are projected to solid screen; thus, observer can observe 3D image of scene on 3D display screen.
