A binding agent for iron ore pellet is composed of raw materials in the following percentage by weight: 20-70% sodium bentonite, 30-79% dressing ore tailings with ascharite and 1-10% addition agent. The mesh size is smaller than 200 after being grinded. The invention can totally replace alta-mud to pelletize, wherein the content of Si is far lower than alta-mud, which not only can improve the grade of pellet ore, but also significantly improves the high temperature metallurgical property.
