Abstract

The invention provides a high-energy short-pulse fiber laser amplifier which comprises a novel large-mode-field double-cladding rare-earth-doped phosphate glass optical fiber, an optical fiber combiner and a multi-mode semiconductor pump light source. A high-grain double-cladding glass optical fiber is adopted as a laser amplification medium, the pump suction coefficient is ten times larger than that of a commercial similar quartz optical fiber, and high-energy short-pulse lasers with the energy of tens mJ can be outputted within the small optical fiber length. The large-mode-field double-cladding rare-earth-doped phosphate glass optical fiber serving as the laser amplification medium is short (can reach the centimeter magnitude), the modulation effect of reducing the light intensity and fiber core refractive index can be achieved for the large mode field area, and therefore the low-order nonlinear effect in the optical fiber is quite small, and the whole laser amplification structure is more compact while more stable and higher-energy pulse lasers are be outputted.
