The process includes steps of crushing attapulgite, then adding the crushed attapulgite into water, after the attapulgite is fully stirred and soaked, performing centrifugation treatment, filtration and drying, and keeping the obtained product for later use; adding the obtained product into a phosphoric acid solution, and stirring and heating the mixture; preparing modified attapulgite; heating the modified attapulgite, and allowing vapour to be in contact and reacted with the attapulgite through an inert gas that is nitrogen; and cooling the product after the reaction is finished, stopping feeding of the vapour, taking the attapulgite out after the temperature is lowered to room temperature, washing the attapulgite with water and drying the attapulgite.
