[0023]It is conceivable that there will be at least three different embodiments (product formulations) of the subject non-enzymatic debridement agent. One is the dressing. Dressing choices will be moderately to highly absorbent materials such as foam, hydrocolloid dressings, or biocomposite dressings. Although dressings are used to wick dissolved eschar material, it is conceivable that negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) could be an alternative method of removing eschar material. A second embodiment is an ointment. For example, ointments may contain thickening agents such as white petrolatum USP, xanthan gum, or polyethylene glycol. The formulations may be combined with antibiotic or antimicrobial dressings, aqueous solutions, gels, hydrogels or ointments. Since non-enzymatic wound debriding agents denature collagen, it would be contrary to collagen dressings.
