Embodiment 1
[0071] Using Waring blender, 4.45 grams of cobalt oxide (Co 3 O 4 ), 4.43 grams of titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ), 18.43 grams of lithium carbonate (Li 2 CO 3 ) And 72.70 grams of antimony trioxide (Sb 2 O 3 The mixture of) was homogenized and calcined in air at 2,150°F for 4 hours. The resulting material is a violet with a red hue, which can be milled to a pigment particle size of a violet with a light red hue. A reversible color transition occurs from a light red shade of violet at room temperature to gray at 660°F.
Embodiment 2
[0073] 9.01g of cobalt oxide (Co 3 O 4 ), 8.96 grams of titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ), 16.59 grams of lithium carbonate (Li 2 CO 3 ) And 65.44 grams of antimony trioxide (Sb 2 O 3 The mixture of) was homogenized and calcined in air at 2,150°F for 4 hours. The resulting material is bright violet, which can be ground to a pigment particle size that develops a light violet color. A reversible color transition from light violet at room temperature to gray at 660°F occurs.
Embodiment 3
[0075] Using a Waring blender, 13.69 grams of cobalt oxide (Co 3 O 4 ), 13.62 grams of titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ), 14.70 grams of lithium carbonate (Li 2 CO 3 ) And 57.99 grams of antimony trioxide (Sb 2 O 3 The mixture of) was homogenized and calcined in air at 2,150°F for 4 hours. The resulting material is bright violet, which can be ground to a pigment particle size that develops violet. A reversible color transition occurs from violet at room temperature to gray at 660°F.

Abstract
The present invention involves pigments derived from compounds with the LiSbO3-type or LiNbO3-type structures. These compounds possess the following formulations M1M5Z3, M1M2M4M5Z6, M1M32M5Z6, M1M2M3M6Z6, M12M4M6Z6, M1M5M6Z6, or a combination thereof. The cation M1 represents an element with a valence of +1 or a mixture thereof, the cation M2 represents an element with a valence of +2 or a mixture thereof, the cation M3 represents an element with a valence of +3 or a mixture thereof, the cation M4 represents an element with a valence of +4 or a mixture thereof, the cation M5 represents an element with a valence of +5 or a mixture thereof, and the cation M6 represents an element with a valence of +6 or a mixture thereof. The cation M is selected from H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Ni, Cu, Ag, Zn, B, Al, Ga, In, Si, Ge, Sn, P, Sb, or Te. The anion Z is selected from N, O, S, Se, Cl, F, hydroxide ion or a mixture thereof. Along with the elements mentioned above vacancies may also reside on the M or Z sites of the above formulations such that the structural type is retained. The above formula may also include M dopant additions below 20 atomic %, where the dopant is selected from H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Ni, Cu, Ag, Zn, B, Al, Ga, In, Si, Ge, Sn, P, Sb, Bi, Te, or mixtures thereof.
Description
Background technique [0001] Based on LiSbO 3 And LiNbO 3 Type structure pigments have not yet been reported. Materials with these types of crystal structures have been studied involving piezoelectric, linear, and nonlinear optical material applications. The following work is published based on LiSbO 3 Type and LiNbO 3 A wide range of new pigment types with type structure. These materials have unique color quality and exceptionally high chemical stability. Summary of the invention [0002] The pigments disclosed in this work have the same properties as LiSbO 3 Type or LiNbO 3 Type structure related crystal structure compound. These structures have chemical formulas with the following variants: [0003] M 1 M 5 Z 3 , [0004] M 1 M 2 M 4 M 5 Z 6 , [0005] M 1 M 3 2 M 5 Z 6 , [0006] M 1 M 2 M 3 M 6 Z 6 , [0007] M 1 2 M 4 M 6 Z 6 , [0008] M 1 M 5 M 6 Z 6 , [0009] Or a combination, [0010] Of which cation M 1 Is an element with a valence of +1 or a mixture thereof, [0011] Of whic...
