Problems solved by technology

[0021] There is a need to provide an alternative to the existing technology, which lacks detailed information and at the same time only allows work with optical systems not based on lasers, with significant operational disadvantages: the price of the equipment for on-site work and the possibility of implementation

Embodiment Construction

[0042] To corroborate the aforementioned evidence and the actual effects of light therapy on different descriptive parameters of improving sperm cell motility-viability and tolerance of sperm cells to environmental stress (which is considered at 37°C for a period of more than 1 hour) size, in different laboratory studies using pig semen as a mammalian model.

[0043] Studies were performed with porcine sperm because they are readily available material and because they are a good model for extrapolation of results to other mammals, including humans.

[0044] The study was carried out using samples from 15 healthy adult male pigs aged 2-3 years and from 5 different breeds (Pietrain, Duroc, Large White, Belgian Landrace and English Landrace). These samples were obtained by manual stimulation and immediately diluted in commercial diluent to a final sperm concentration of 3 × 10 7 spermatozoa / ml in a final volume of 90 mL and stored at 16-17°C.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for increasing the fertilizing capacity of sperm cells. The method comprises irradiating said sperm cells with non-coherent red light, the irradiation with non-coherent red light being performed in a discontinuous manner according to a pattern including at least one sequence of two irradiation periods of specific durations which are separated by an intermediate period of darkness of a specific duration. Each of said specific periods of irradiation and darkness it lasts between 8 and 15 minutes. The apparatus is configured for implementing the method.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for the treatment of mammalian semen, which is not based on chemical agents and whose purpose is to increase the fertility of semen by, but not limited to, activating the motility of the sperm contained in said semen, improving their Resistance to stress and generally improves sperm viability. [0002] The method is based on exposing containers of semen to electromagnetic (visible light) radiation. In an isothermal environment, process conditions are optimized for specific wavelength, time, and dose values. [0003] The invention belongs to the technical field of assisted reproduction of mammals. [0004] The present invention includes a method validated and optimized for all exposure variables used in the steps preceding insemination and devices designed to carry out the method in a container, cannula, syringe, test tube or similar system. Background technique [0005] Sperm viability, motility, and motilit...
